We have been up and running for over three years now, and came to the realization that we need a place to share all the beautiful stories that are continually pouring in. Thus, we are introducing the first ever Generous Blog. In this blog, you can expect anything from stories of impact, how your purchase is creating change, the best ways to brew your coffee, how to make delicious lattes at home, fun recipes, coffee tips and education, behind the scenes, and everything in between! We thought we would kick off this first post with who Generous is and how we came to be!

Back in 2010, our main partner nonprofit, Humanity and Hope United, was created to help the people of Honduras overcome challenges and grow to be their best selves.

President of H&H, Riley Fuller and Board Member, Ben Higgins were at dinner in Honduras and found themselves in a conversation centered around sustainable fundraising. The friend they had dinner with asked them what they would do if their fundraising for H&H ever ran out. He challenged them to come up with an alternative to relying on receiving donations from others. This led to Ben and Riley visiting a coffee farm in the summer of 2017, where they learned how much effort and hard work went into each cup of coffee. Not only did they want to sell this coffee to donate the profits back, but they wanted the workers to be compensated fairly. They returned to the States with the dream to start a for-profit business that was a for-purpose business. Thus, Generous Coffee was born and they pledged that 100% of profits from coffee and apparel would directly go back into nonprofits fighting injustice around the world. In October 2017, the first preorder coffee campaign was a success and was later followed by the official launch of Generous in January of 2018!

For us, this has quickly become more than just serving up good coffee. We have been blown away by the Generous community that has been cultivated through our customer base and Ambassador Program. It feels like everyday we hear stories of changes that are happening through this community or volunteer efforts. We have been apart of projects that have created jobs for women in Honduras, built clinics for residents in Haiti, donated coffee to events, and the list goes on. Not to mention, we have received some kills reviews from our loyal customers about how much they simply love the coffee.

None of this would be possible without YOUR support. Over here at Generous, we are very mindful of that and keep you at the center of all our decisions and ability to impact.

In a world with access to coffee in every workplace, neighborhood, grocery store shelf, and practically anywhere we go, we know that another coffee shop in the mix makes it even more saturated. That’s why we exist to change the lives of those around us. We believe that if you are going to buy coffee anyways, it might as well be quality, life-changing coffee.

Generosity isn’t about how much we have, nor is it proven in a single act - the true spirit of generosity is a lifestyle. We want to encompass this belief in a brand, and give people a place to buy things they believe in from top to bottom. We are excited to use this blog space to share that alongside you!
